based on their scope, objectives, and publicity) and the analysis of institutional archives and Portuguese academic journals. Of the 884 articles and editorials published in Revista Portuguesa de Educação Musical, only 15 are about CM, of which 12 were published after 2008. This proportion is similar to the number of master's theses (16), and doctoral theses (4) completed in Portuguese universities, the oldest being dated 2011. Although it is impossible to determine the exact number of CM projects in Portugal, it appears to be higher than the number of national publications. This discrepancy may be due to the varied backgrounds of practitioners, many of whom do not have a degree in CM, and only a few with links to academic institutions. Moreover, the lack of public funding may exacerbate this difference. Self-funded projects are less likely to produce extensive reports. These findings suggest why many Portuguese CM projects lack written (and published) reflections, which would be a key element for improving and growing this community arts practice.
