Author Biography

Riccardo Wanke, Centro de Estudos Interdisciplinares / CEIS20 Universidade de Coimbra

Riccardo D. Wanke, author of the book Sound in the Ecstatic-Materialist Perspective on Experimental Music (Routledge, 2021), is Professor at the University of Coimbra (FLUC) and Scientific Coordinator of the group ‘Artistic Practices: Imagination, Materialities, and Transitions’ at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies (CEIS20). With PhDs in musicology (2013–9) and chemistry (2006–10), his research bridges music theory, cognition, aesthetics, and morphogenetic studies. A former multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music editor (since 2004), he has published over fourty-five works and released/performed music internationally. His work connects cognitive psychology and musicology, focusing on electronic sound and interdisciplinary collaboration across the arts and sciences.
