Author Biographies

Luísa Cymbron

LUÍSA CYMBRON is assistant teacher at the Departamento de Ciências Musicais of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and prepares her doctoral dissertation on Italian opera in Portugal between 1834 and 1854. She published História da Música Portuguesa with Manuel Carlos de Brito, the RIPM volume on the Portuguese journal A Arte Musical 1873-1875, 1890-1891, and articles about 19th-century Portuguese Music History and Opera.

Joaquim Carmelo Rosa

JOAQUIM CARMELO ROSA graduated from the Departamento de Ciências Musicais of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where he is at present a post-graduate student. He taught at the Conservatories of Tomar, Faro and Portalegre, the Escola de Música of Santarém, the Academia Luísa Todi in Setúbal, the Piaget Institute, the Escola Profissional de Música in Almada and the Fundação Musical dos Amigos das Crianças. He is now assistant teacher at the Departamento de Música of the Escola Superior de Educação in Setúbal.
