Author Biography

Jason Stoessel, University of New England / Armidale

Jason Stoessel (PhD 2003) is Associate Professor of Musicology and Digital Humanities at the University of New England, Australia. He is an internationally recognized research leader across various topics relating to the music of the fourteenth to early seventeenth centuries. His latest research has appeared in Music and Science from Leonardo to Galileo (Brepols, 2022), Belonging, Detachment and the Representation of Musical Identities in Visual Culture (Hollitzer, 2023), and The Burlington Magazine (2024). He has held two consecutive Australian Research Council Discovery Project Grants and most recently an Albi Rosenthal Fellowship in Music, Bodleian Library, Oxford.
